Students are holding a convalescent plasma drive with the help of the South Bend Medical Foundation today and tomorrow.

A Notre Dame student came up with this idea for the life-saving drive. He’s hoping he can help this community in a big way.

Notre Dame sophomore Robert Ducheskie experienced some of the indirect effects of coronavirus back in August.

"A lot of my friends actually tested positive in late August this year, and I got contact traced just because I was around them a bunch," said Ducheskie.

Ducheskie had to quarantine for seven days in a hotel room, but ended up testing negative for the coronavirus.

"I thought, 'how can I take this negative situation that we were all placed into with this pandemic and turn it into a positive' and maybe not for myself but for others."

Ducheskie knew that many students at Notre Dame had contracted the virus, so he thought about a convalescent plasma drive.
